Virtual Tour Offers Insight Into Dementia

College of Pharmacy students, faculty, and staff had an opportunity to participate in the Virtual Dementia Tour sponsored by the Student College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and organized by second year pharmacy student Jordan Glasgow.

Virtual Tour Portal Highlights College of Pharmacy

Since launching the College’s Virtual Tour Portal last summer, more than 1,000 prospective students and alumni have viewed its content. Recently, the site was updated with new videos, further highlighting what makes UGA Pharmacy unique.

College of Pharmacy Reaches Record Enrollment Numbers

Since June of this year, new student enrollment has been booming at the College of Pharmacy.

Dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness

The College of Pharmacy is dedicated to increasing awareness about breast cancer.

Pharmacy Research Scientist Receives Grant to Discover Treatment for Fatal Disease

Dr. Christopher Rice, an Assistant Research Scientist at UGA’s College of Pharmacy, has received a foundation grant to continue his research on Naegleria fowleri, a single-celled living organism that causes the brain-eating disease Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM).

Five faculty in the College of Pharmacy had a bold vision – to promote education and conduct research that would lead to improved outcomes for critically ill patients.

Faculty Pioneer Research Through Grant Awards

In 2021, College of Pharmacy faculty were awarded more than $3.5 million in grants from such prestigious institutions as the National Institutes of Health, the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the VA Medical Center. This year’s awards brings the total list to 38 active grants at the College.

It is more important than ever before to get vaccinated, not only to protect yourself, but to protect others. The College of Pharmacy is dedicated to making vaccinations easily accessible and readily available throughout the state.

Employment opportunities in pharmacy are increasing in Georgia as the state is expected to employ pharmacists at a growth rate of 12.14% by 2028, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. To meet this need, undergraduate chemistry and biology students from three University System of Georgia colleges – Dalton State, Georgia Gwinnett College, and Georgia Southern – interested in a career in pharmacy now have a streamlined approach for admission into the University of Georgia’s Doctor of Pharmacy program.

The College of Pharmacy and the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) hosted the 19th annual Pharmtoberfest Health Fair October 21.

The Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences (PBS) Department expanded its leadership team and appointed a new interim director just prior to the beginning of fall semester.

PharmDawg Student Debt Lower Than National Average

The College of Pharmacy has access to approximately 110 scholarship funds that support students. For the 2021-22 academic year, an all time high of $360,000 of scholarship funding was awarded to deserving pharmacy students.

The full-time pursuit of an advanced degree is hard enough. But imagine both adults in a family pursuing advanced degrees, while caring for a toddler and expecting baby number two.
