Virtual Tour Allows Students to Experience College Safely

Prospective students interested in the undergraduate, graduate, and professional academic programs at the College of Pharmacy can get a flavor of the school’s various locations – from the safety and comfort of their own homes and using their own technology!

The Office of Student Affairs recently launched a new Virtual Tour Portal that showcases the College’s four campus locations across Georgia. Produced in collaboration with videographers from Digima24, a visual storytelling firm, the tour features six 360-degree scenes throughout the Athens campus’s two buildings and links to alumni profiles of those who studied in Albany, Augusta, and Savannah.

Providing prospective and recently admitted students a unique look inside the College’s facilities was particularly important since in-person tours have been curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Recruitment has looked a lot different this year, but we have answered these new challenges with great success,” explained Recruitment Specialist Shane Pruitt, Ed.D. “In addition to the virtual tour, newly implemented messaging software is helping us stay in contact with quadruple the usual number of student inquiries. Also, we are piloting the College’s first ever external articulation agreements with Georgia College and Augusta University, whereby students can earn both a B.S. and Pharm.D. in just seven years. Furthermore, our newest Double Dawgs option between UGA’s Biochemical Engineering bachelor’s program and the Master of Science in Pharmacy degree has yielded three times the originally expected number of admitted students. With more innovative ideas planned for release throughout the summer, UGA Pharmacy will continue to stay on the cutting-edge of new student recruitment.”

While supplies last, prospective students may visit the Virtual Tour Portal using their smartphone and request UGA Pharmacy-branded virtual reality glasses to enhance their tour experience. Contact Dr. Pruitt for more information on the College’s virtual tours.
