Providing an environment in which everyone feels safe, welcomed, valued, and respected is the ultimate goal of any organization, and the UGA College of Pharmacy is no exception.
In early November, the College will participate in the UGA-sponsored Viewfinder Climate Survey, which will measure and assess the College’s strengths and opportunities for growth in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Viewfinder is a leader in comprehensive campus climate administration. The College of Pharmacy is one of six units on the University of Georgia campus selected to participate in the first phase of the Viewfinder assessment program.
All faculty, staff, and students on all campuses are encouraged to participate in the 15-25 minute survey. To protect anonymity and assure trust with participants, Viewfinder is solely administering the survey and providing the College with raw data at the conclusion of the process.
According to Dr. Vivia Hill-Silcott, Director of Diversity Programs and Academic Support and the ViewFinder project liaison, “Data gathered will inform us about the experiences and perceptions of our faculty, staff, and students on all campuses, and help us identify and address gaps and shortcomings in our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. We are looking forward to receiving the results and generating solutions to identified gaps in our programming and practices.”
In support of the Viewfinder tool, Dean Kelly Smith produced a brief video emphasizing the value and importance of this climate survey. Watch the video.
The results of the survey will be published in a future issue of UGAScript.
