Two Alumni Named to UGA 40 Under 40 Class of 2022

Congratulations to Adesubomi O. Adeyemo (BS ’11, PharmD ’15, MPH ’16) and Kevin Florence (PharmD ’09), who have been named to UGA’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2022! UGA’s 40 Under 40 celebrates young alumni leading the pack in their industries and communities. Nominated by their peers, they truly represent our best and brightest Bulldogs. About the Honoree:

Professional Experience

  • The first individual to complete the dual doctor of pharmacy and master of public health program.
  • Appointed as a Presidential Management Fellow in CDC’s division of global HIV & TB where she provided support for Kenya, Uganda, and Angola through the President’s emergency plan for AIDS relief program, focusing on the supply chain management of HIV & TB commodities.
  • Joined the division of HIV/AIDS prevention in 2020 to support the epidemiology branch. In 2021 she joined the division of parasitic diseases and malaria through the epidemic intelligence service fellowship.
  • Prior to joining CDC she worked as a full-time retail pharmacist and has maintained part-time involvement while employed at CDC.

 Community Involvement

  • Co-founded a community outreach program focused on educating elementary students about the importance of self-monitoring of health, preventative care, medication safety, and higher education in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines.
  • Delivers monthly seminars and mentorship sessions to pharmacy schools, and students on rotations at the CDC, Food and Drug Administration, and Office of Personnel Management about different career opportunities for pharmacists in public health.
  • Participates in quarterly community health fairs as a provider that performs glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol screenings as well as medication therapy management services.

Awards and Accolades

  • Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer (2-year applied epidemiology; 1 of only 11 pharmacists in the 70-year history of the world-renowned Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Epidemic Intelligence Service fellowship program).
  • Presidential Management Fellow (2-year public health fellowship program; Appointed among 6,000 applicants; Appointed as a public health analyst with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; 1 of 10 pharmacists accepted to the Presidential Management Fellows program since 2010).

About the Honoree:

Professional Experience

  • Co-creator of PayrollRx which provides bookkeeping and HR services for small businesses.
  • Board member and head of retail operations of Fine Fettle, one of six companies awarded a medical marijuana production and dispensing license in Georgia and currently waiting for the program to be officially approved by the state to begin operations.
  • Worked as a staff pharmacist for CVS and pharmaceutical specialties before purchasing ADD Drug in 2012 and starting the assisted living pharmacy in 2015.

 Community Involvement

  • Member of the Athens Jaycees, St. Mary’s Young Professional Advisory Board, Athens Regional 1919 Foundation and participated in the LEAD Athens program.
  • Served on the Georgia Pharmacy Association board of directors, multiple committees and is the chair-elect for the Academy of Independent Pharmacy.

Awards and Accolades

  • ADD’s Personal Care ranked #7 in the 2019 Bulldog 100, which was the highest by any pharmacy at the time.
  • Received the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award from the Georgia Pharmacy Association.
  • Recognized by the UGA Small Business Development Center, enabling him to work with and mentor pharmacy students interested in entrepreneurship.
