By day in the classroom—and at night in the library—Baylie Jade Phillips is a studious, dedicated third-year Doctor of Pharmacy student who is pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatric pharmacist in a community hospital. On Saturdays between the hallowed hedges of Dooley Field in Sanford Stadium—and at away-games for the Georgia Bulldogs—she is the head majorette for the UGA Redcoat Marching Band. The Hartwell, GA native makes balancing her two passions look easy. Rest assured, it is anything but. “If you’re ever doubting yourself or wondering whether you’re putting too much pressure on yourself, you just need to remember your ‘why,’” she said. Baylie was the lead-off feature of UGA’s 2025 series, “Game Changers,” which highlights students who play, assist, and support the UGA football program.
