A Year in Review – A Reflection of Accomplishments

Another year of high achievement from UGA's College of Pharmacy

It was another year of achievements for the UGA College of Pharmacy. The tallies in teaching, research, and service added up to create a story of excellence. So much so, that the College moved from 24th among 141 Colleges of Pharmacy in the U.S. News and World Report rankings to 15th—fifteenth—an unprecedented nine-point jump in this prestigious listing.

There are a myriad of reasons for our successes, yet I will shine our spotlight on just one. The human spirit that is pervasive in our College is nothing short of inspiring. From faculty members who provide superior education, research, and experiential learning opportunities…to the students who come here eager to learn and excel in their chosen field of study…to the staff who support these teachers and learners with unwavering dedication—PharmDawgs exemplify a symbiotic spirit that assures a prosperous future for pharmacy and pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.

Yes, we often call ourselves PharmDawgs. It is a term that unites us amongst the larger backdrop of a nationally and internationally recognized university.  It is a term that we use to cheer one another on in all our endeavors. And it is a term that is inclusive to the 8,000+ alumni and donors, along with the more than 1,000 preceptors, whose selfless generosity supports our students and college. Whether through their gifts of time, expertise, talents, financial resources, or service, their spirit has created a legacy of success.

The following pages chronicle our achievements in fiscal and calendar years 2024. May you savor the spirit of excellence that is palatable among these pages. And may you embrace the human spirit found in a PharmDawg.

Happy New Year and Happy Reading,

Kelly M Smith, Dean
